Air Canada’s flight attendants are set to walk off the job as early as 12:58 a.m. ET this Saturday after their union signaled a strike over stalled contract talks. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) delivered the mandatory 72-hour notice once negotiations on wages, work rules and unpaid hours reached an impasse.

Bargaining has been under way since March, but Air Canada confirmed Tuesday that the two sides remain far apart. CUPE recently rejected the airline’s offer to settle the dispute through binding interest arbitration, prompting both parties to return to each other’s proposals without a clear path to agreement.
