2024's Best Pizza is Not in Naples or Italy, According to 50 Top Pizza Awards

New Yorkers are proud of their pizza, and now they have even more reason to boast. The 50 Top Pizza Awards recently released its 2024 worldwide list, with a Lower East Side restaurant taking the top spot.

Una Pizza Napoletana, founded by pizza expert Anthony Mangieri in March 2022, outshone both US and global competition, including pizzerias in Naples, Italy. This recognition is particularly meaningful for Mangieri, who has been in the pizza industry for 30 years.

In addition to Una Pizza Napoletana, three other New York pizzerias made the list, with Italy dominating overall. Despite Naples having five entries, New York managed four spots, showcasing the city's strong pizza scene. The awards also recognized pizzerias from unexpected pizza locales like South Korea, Bolivia, and India.

According to the 50 Top Pizza Awards, Una Pizza Napoletana stood out for its traditional toppings and high-quality ingredients. Mangieri's dedication to perfecting every detail of his pizzas, including using naturally leavened dough and premium ingredients, has contributed to the restaurant's success.

Una Pizza Napoletana focuses on offering a limited selection of wood-fired pizzas, all made with care and attention to detail. Despite the accolades, Mangieri remains committed to his craft and continues to prioritize quality in every pizza served at Una.

For those looking to try Una's award-winning pizza, the restaurant will be closed until October 4 as Mangieri and his team travel in Italy.
