Breaking News on USA Passports 🛂
The United States Department of State has officially announced that Americans now have the opportunity to renew their passports online. The department had previously launched a beta program, allowing a select group of U.S. citizens to renew their passports online. The success of the two-month test has led them to open the program to all Americans.
To handle the expected increase in online renewals, the State Department has hired additional staff, brought in experts, and made improvements to their website to streamline the passport renewal and travel visa process. Approximately 200,000 Americans took part in the beta program.
Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma confirmed that online passport renewal will now be available to the entire country. It is estimated that nearly 50 percent of passport renewals will soon be done online. However, U.S. citizens must be in the country to take advantage of this service, and passports expired for more than five years cannot be renewed online.
Despite hopes that the new online service will expedite the passport renewal process, Verma cautioned that it may not necessarily be faster.
